Hi,

Right i've had a leak for a while I traced it down to a fluid container under the bonnet. Its the one the oposite side of the master cylinder(near battery) that says Brake fluid on the top... I topped that up about 2 weeks ago and it emptied itself lol. I found it was linked to the diff locks(or appears to be) I replaced the pipes going to diff locks but its still leaking and it now empties the fluid pretty much over night now...I also found that that temperature near both gear sticks was hot when i went to change it and it also smelt a bit like burning so i stopped driving it! ... Questions are:

Would this at all effect the automatic gear box and changes?
Would this effect anything other than the diff locks?
As i dont use diff locks at all (no need to lol) would there be any issues of just not topping up that container any more?

Many thanks
Joe

Hi there are two rubber hoses in the Difflock hydraulic circuit..one under the reservoir and one close to the selectors..either or both will let the fluid leak away...if it still leaks after you renew these then one of the metal pipes are leaking....this system is not related to any gearbox /transfer box function and is only needed to get you out of a bogged down situation.....

So am I right in saying that I Don't really need to worry about it as I never use it?

Many thanks
