Skoda
The longer I drive G's the more I am thinking of getting a Skoda. At least if can't get the b100dy load sensor to work I can buy a new car!!!
Why do we do this to ourselves?
I have been giving the new, very good condition 463 300GD a going over before taking it on a trip to Europe. Now this car has a full MB service history up to 2000ml's ago.
I have done in the last week:
4 new shocks
rear springs
disks & pads
Drums & linings
Front wheel bearings
Steering damper
new radiator
new fuel lines and extra filter for chip fat
Used 2kg of grease on every nipple I could see.
and now I am struggling with the load sensor.
MB have done this year:
£1910 for a new heater blower
£420 for new hand brake cables
£600 for full ATV grease servise.
Somewhere something is wrong, or I must buy a Skoda
Or would you consider a Lada?
lots less to go wrong
and you probably wont notice if it does
Hey I won't hear a bad word said against ladas had 2 Nivas in my time never broke down and went anywhere and I mean anywhere!
Still a shocking amount of money. You'd think that a Military based design would think about accessibility, and simplicity especially, but obviously not, especially in the case of the Fan Blower!
Want to sell it :)

true! Never seen a broken down lada or gaz!!

get a óð÷(gaz)!! They really do look cool!!!!!! Not joking here!
or simply just get a Rangie TD6 mine 6 years old 95K (me 50k of that) milage, services only plus new disks at 87K just started its third set of Goodyears. So far (and I have owned 6LRs 90's, disco I & II, freelanders and a P38a and only one of those has every left me stranded) its had no issues.
And yes morty I know they lose there value quicker but than means at this age & mileage you get one for £13k when the engines just about run in :D
Well OK it doesn't get thrashed of road like my G did but then that's not what I bought it for, you can drive down to the southern europe in a day with cruise set in the eighties and still get 27mpg 5 up with luggage as I did last year
That said i will still buy a 463 diesel when I have enough spare pennies for messing about in when I get the chance...
The car not buy is a Toyota Landcrusier (What used to be the Colorado) had two of these in the last three years for the memsahib, both chewed up diesel injectors in under 10K miles a go, £2.5k a time to replace at main stealer, replacement done under warranty thank goodness, but three lots of injectors on two seperate cars when only feed with Shell or BP finest and no supermartket stuff, seems to me Toyota have serious build quality issues.
P38 was part based on the G, or at the very least LR bought one and dismantled it to learn its precious secrets, read that in a LR magazine so it must be true.
At the risk of offending anyone fron Staffordshire, why would you want you car to smell like you lived in Stoke as they all seem to run horrible smelly chip fat when I last had the displeasure to have to drive through that delightful city (did I say delightful).
I would still consider selling it, but my wife will KILL me if I did. This is her car, so on goes the old clothes and rubber gloves again.
Now I love G's again.
Change the wife?
