Hello all

The handbrake light on the dash has come on permanently. I've disconnected the wires at the switch to eliminate the problem being the switch. Does any one know what else activates this light? I've disconnected the brake pad wires as well, not sure if they illuminate this light when warn but it's not those either. Does any one have a wiring diagram for a 1988 250 GD? Thanks

Re: Hand brake light

This functionality varies a little by country but some countries will have a low fluid warning attached to the hand brake light. Check the master cylinder level and/or wiring.

Hope that this helps.

Re: Hand brake light

take off the instrument cowl (two starhead screws one either side) observe the location of the park light bulb holder and remove it....could be that the instrument captive circuit board has an earth problem or the wires to the switch have frayed at some point.the switch operates on a single wire make and break" principle.... the hot end is at the instrument.

Re: Hand brake light

Hi fixwin, I've looked there too, but maybe could do with a closer look. Thanks, I shall report further.
