From Facebook to Youtube
Bill Moss came to visit and play this weekend, on road tyres! I have a video on Facebook showing why you should not do that. Can anybody tell me how to get it on to Youtube so that everyone can see it?
Wouldnt let that guy anywhere near my garden .....
ok you need to delete that, its embarassing !, road tyres are fine, just needed lockers in or a bigger run up.
yeah
thats dead funny - why didnt you put the lockers on after the 2nd attempt?
oh dear - might have to swap my g wagon for a suzuki sj - that would have made it up
blooming chelsea tractors!
I managed to get up in 1 go in my old 280 pick up project car, but on MT tyres.
That must be a superbly sorted 280 then
No 1st gear or brakes Russ...
Ah it's down to the driver then
On a more serious note that was a very close shave.
It is, however, an interesting demonstration of how stable a G is with respect to it’s tipping angle. Not that I would like to test it to that extent for real
I guess there was some luck involved (once it had started to turn sideways) though, wet grass allowing it to slip, no rabbit holes for a tyre to dig in to etc.
Wow Looks like great fun . Is that you running and jumping on the Bulbarss Cristo
Hey Bill even a ford transit can do that. on slick tires. Very embarassing
The list of cars not able to make this bank:LR 90, LR 110 with locks, Mitsubishi L200 with rear lock, Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin with lock, Isuzu Trooper, Ford Ranger with rear lock and Suzi GV2000.
The bank is a lot worse than the camera shows, but I have about 7000 acres available for playing so if anybody thinks you can do better, come and have some fun.
Now if roughneck had the Hutchys on....
---------------------
Sounds like the seed has been planted for another GWOA impromptu event! Name a weekend, half day or whatever, and whoever can make it, gets to play?

You are right, a Turk could do it on his bare arse. :D

It was no where near turn over Russ, at least 2 degrees of tilt left, Ive been in worse than that and just driven out of it. :D Great idea lets all go up and have a go, there is a much worse climb than that.

Do you have any pictures of a G rolled over Peter???

Obviously you talking from your vast experience  , but Turks usually are good riders and , like to use something for obstacles like that.
A horse, Mule , donkey , a G wagen . Or even a camel.
Look at here and see how it is done, may be you learn something

Recognise this G Christo?
now thats embaressing :!:
definately a lack of experience, i had the pleasure of spending the day with you guys at stonehenge and remember Mr Sav in bruces old G300td climbing a steep gradient that was caked in mud, plus a deep water/mud filled ditch too.
now no disrespect but Sav's no guru and he accepts it too,but he 'walked that gradient on 18's and pirelli p zeros  :D

To paraphrase Mick Dundee....'call that a hill....'
Or as I commented at Todds leap
Sniff,
Thats not steep, we be cutting silage on steeper ground than that,
a little tongue in cheek it must be said.
Snowchains must be the best idea here, so far.
STTs
Yep STT's are fine too.By the way, what is the life expectancy on STT's compared with AT's. I use mine as a daily driver
Gimminee Shakir, how long is a piece of spagetti. :)
Gimminee Shakir, how long is a piece of spagetti. :)
Twice as long as it is from the middle? :D
Spider1V
And if it is a spagetti ring?
And if it is a spagetti ring?
good question - depends on how large the ring is......
Spider1V
Bonkers, mad as a spoon all of you. :D
I saw that one yesterday when I was trawling through youtube. That's not you is it?
No its not me, I would have used the road...
:D I would have used somebody else's G
Cristo,
The tyres were purchased from two farmers/4x4 specials builders on the north west side of corwen, from memory they trade as "Up to the axles".
I had some INSA Turbo's off them for my old 280, very aggressive MT's which were great and didn't cause much road noise but did cause huge break lock up on tarmac
MMmm quite a spectacular cloud of smoke...I have seen that happen before..a hot diesel engine generously overfilled with engine oil.. now running at uncontrollable/unknown revs on the surplus oil which gets past the oil control rings due to the excess amount in the sump...the ONLY way to stop it is to starve the engine of air..the noise is horrendous and the silence that follows generally indicates that some very expensive/extensive damage has been done to engine...it does not happen with a petrol engine... excess oil just puts the spark out....
Erm,
Peter
I "think" that horrendous noise was the sound track
PS
On recollection someone at the Yard here mentioned that Ford Transits of some particular vintage had a habit of running on their engine oil when they got nicely warmed up.

A friend of mine had TWO Laguna engines do that to him. Second one he managed to stop by stalling it only for the AA/RAC recovery guy to turn up and start it up with disastrous results
Don’t think it was due to overfilling with oil though, from memory I think it was turbo seals
Don’t think he was too bothered though……..the joys of company car ownership :)
Actually reminded me of Peter Perfects Car on Salisbury plain at Xmas! But that was because he had half of the sand somewhere in his exhaust /sump/ engine/cylinder head or something
My Daughter first saw it and asked why his car was steam powered! :P
Spider1V
I can only addt to that, that you won't need to bring your kids to roller-coaster in amusement park if you've got G - just do little off-roading with them :D :D (and put kids on jump-seats in the back with-out seat belts - who-hooo!!! )
This bank is more than 45', closer to 50, and as you go over it, there is a ditch into which your front bumper scrape the opposite side, so you can not take a run-up. He did engage his locks from the start, but as you can see... I managed to get up in 1 go in my old 280 pick up project car, but on MT tyres.
