Just had the new (to me) 463 MOT'd. Only work needed was the replacement of the rear springs, both of which were broken! On investigation :? they were both broken on the last turn...hidden by the cup...hence not spotting that on my pre-purchase inspection :( . The springs were Merc Items fitted two years ago on a G thats only done 6K on them...none of that off road! The springs are of thiner wire at the ends. Merc itens were quoted at £170 each!!!! for something that lasted 2 years!!Had a search on this site and opted for heavy duty units from S&M springs at £149.04 the pair delivered. Much heavier spring which inspire confidence. This years menbership has paid for its self again!!!!!!!!!

Re: Rear Springs

Hi Grendle....you get longer life from the rear springs if you istal them with the bottom tails towards the diff.....something to do with the greater angle of compression being on the side closest to the wheels.....

Re: Rear Springs

I know that mercedes Denmark will give you a 5 year garantie on springs. So if you got some papers on them, you might try to get new ones from mercedes!
:D
