Hello Chaps,

I'm currently hitting the fear for exams hence my lack of presence on here but I thought I would be cheeky and pick some of your brains...

Due to budget constraints me and the misses are thinking of doing a camping trip around Ireland near the end of the summer (late august early september) which would obviously involve the two of us, Murray my trusty 190 and a boot full of rubbish!

Inge hasn't been to Ireland before and even though im actually irish i havent crossed the irish sea for ages! I'd like to take her to the usual sites Blarney stone etc etc and see Cork, Kerry and Gallway along the way. Ive got a few mates on my course that live there too so will be popping into see them depending on mileage. We also would like to do some good walks.

So if any if you have any recommendations, Campsites, Attractions, Walks etc that we should never miss out on I would love to hear about them.

Kind Regards,

Tommy

p.s proof a city boy like me can do this camping malarkey....

can't really go wrong any where in the West of Ireland only real issue is the weather, need lots of pennies for the beer though.

Dick Macs pub in central Dingle is always an experience. You can buy wellies, fertilizer or pints.

Kinsale is excellent for food, though how many are still open to pay the exorbitant prices that were part of its charm in 2007 is anyones guess.

Weather is always a factor. But play it by ear and stick to the B&Bs - their owners always make good recomendations.

Hi from Bucks M40/M5 to Chester slip... follow signs for Holyhead --frequent day and night sailings to Dublin...(Stena or Irish Ferries) or 30 miles on to Berkenhead (Norfolk Lines) two sailings (eight hour cruise) 10.30 am or 10.30 pm ..cabins and meals included...day sailing much cheaper.....

If you are in Co.Kerry make a point of going on the boat trip to Skellig Michael. It is an island 8 miles of the Kerry coast, home to one of the best preserved monastic sites in Europe.Iw as built circa.7th.centuary and inhabited for around 600 years.I know Ireland like the back of my hand and no other site comes anywere near having the impact of this place.it will stay with you for the rest of your life.Other places of major interest are Glendalough in Co.Wicklow,Cliffs of Moher in Co.Clare,The Ring of Kerry,The Arran Islands,Galway City etc.Bring some alchol with you as the price of booze in the South is criminal.Be careful on the roads as there are some crazy drivers here.Have a good trip.Ciaran.

Hi folks, I am doing basically same trip, but with my G and + approx 7000 km on continent to get Ireland and back. I'm gonna be here 23-30 sept.

In case of major failure or if trouble should happen to G (within Ireland) and I would need expert or non-expert advice, could friendly "oirish chaps" PM me their contact phones?! I assure you it will be used only in total necessary and related to G. I hope, I won't need it anyway, but better to be prepared, as internet use is questionable in that time...
