Hello all,
I have the plastic fuel tank on my 89 300 gd. The exhaust tail pipe does not have a heat shield. I notice on the link, "hundreds of illustrated tips for the G" (in German) on this site posted 24 Sept 08. This shows just what
Ii need to fit on my tank.
Unfortunately I do not understand German, Is this a merc part?
I will guess most likely not so please where can I get one or better still,
How do I make it.
I do not need to renew the existing tail pipe over the tank as it is very good.
Please have a look at the above link in General Technical. Very helpful.
Thanks Vic

Re: Plastic tank, exhaust heat shield

if you have a plastic tank then the heat shield is a must but check out the prices as it might be cheaper to redirect the exhaust either down or as a side exit.

Thanks again, I have just had a stainless box and tailpipe fitted by by powerflow in Newport, they wrapped a heat shield on the tailpipe. £230 if anybody is interested. Appears to be fine.
Thanks for all the advice Vic
