Hi Yours was built in 1982 ..it was originally Manilla beige with black interior trim. had a swivel type spare wheel carrier. front seat headrests and rear seatbelts... the OM 617/931 diesel engine was the 332nd ever built and it originally had steel wheels ....but I am sure you knew all that anyway!!! there is a LHD 240D cabrio with an earlier Vin than yours.. in the UK ... owned by a member of GWOA.......
Mine is 46023327032206 a red (actual colour name?) RHD 280GE LWB registered in 1984.
Any further information that can be gathered is very welcome.
Hi Gunnar I was quoting from the Vin printout for your vin number as per the Russian website.....
Hi G Funk... the printout from the Russian website for the Vin number reveals that the order was placed in 1983 by the UK main dealer..paint is ROT' red.. code 3002.model 280GE automatic.may have non standard exhaust system.front seat headrests. black interior.luggage nets on back of front seats.tacho indicator.halogen spot lamps.no arches and steel wheels.
the russian vin check can be wrong (a lot of times)
some of the cars that were press cars have came up on the vin checker with bike racks and steel wheels and no arches
when clearly on the press pics they had from the factory
The lowest VIN I have seen is WDB46023317002083, 280GE LWB, ex-German police, delivery date 22.11.1979. Still has the original green paint, no front difflock.
my west australian colleague (ill leave his details alone for him to reveal if he wishes), has a '79 which he put a 5 litre into. it is vin number ~ 700 off the production rank.ie 460 XXX XX XXX700 (i didnt take his exact vin but remember it being ~ 700)!
Hi Nathan,
I hate to be the one to tell you that your memory is slipping but the VIN is actually WDB46021017000529 and it is a a cabriolet from the UAE that, as you said, now has a V8 with AMG 5 speed gearbox and looks a little bit more like a 463 than it should!
John
The Puch museum in Graz houses a G which was no 9 off the production line. No 8 is in a military museum in Germany and no's. 1-7 were crashed during testing.
...it is a cabriolet from the UAE
Slightly off topic, but speaking of cabrios in the UAE, this one's for sale, I can't quite make out the colour, looks like a designo hue:
Thank you for the reply.

My car was orginaly built in 1980 and with yello seats and color was wheat yello.
I am the second owner, i have had it for two years and changed the color.
The orginal owner was the president of the Mercedes dealershipp in Iceland.
