Re: Are you worried?

Actually it shows they have no intelligence at all. Think about it, they slash and let down tyres - ok so they get their fix, but wait.

What's does the poor person with the 4x4 do? He calls a tyre company, who have to drive out in their big lorry to deliver the new tyres! But wait - it gets better....... the Tyre companies have to order NEW tyres, which uses up extra resources thus increasing the carbon foot print, they so desperately want to reduce in the first place.

As for the personal choice issues - so we now have 'James' dictating to us HIS personal choice and because we don't believe in his personal choice we are marked for his own brand of justice? Hmmmm we have a potential 'Pol Pot' on our hands? And we all know what informed ideas he had and the great success they did for Cambodia..... sent them back to the stone age!

The problem with these eco fundamentalists is just that - they can not see past their own selfish needs to be martyr to the cause. The sad fact is that while there maybe global warming and it MAYBE caused by car emissions, we are neglecting other factors such as; Solar Flaring, Planetary cycles and the need for a government to find a new 'enemy'.

Mind you I still say - find James and hanging him by his balls!

Re: Are you worried?

James thinks large 4x4s are dangerous for the city, without any actual evident; however I think not only his statement is not true, but the fact shows quite the opposite to what he thinks.

Once i rented a small Hyundai for going into London; basically, nobody seemed to observe the existence of me at all!! Not a single driver from the oncoming traffic slowed down/gave way or being polite, especially those who drives a BMW 1 or 3 series. James might argue that a 4x4 pose potential harms to pedestrians, but drunk people at night, anti-social youths and criminals pose even more serious harm to the residents. Why didn't they spend their effort on helping the police to maintaining social order?

Furthermore, according to a study done by PNAS, 36% of the carbon emission between 2000-2004 came from solid fossil fuel, compare to 35% from liquid fossil fuel. Does this mean James is going to cut down all the pylons connecting to the coal burning power stations in the UK until the Government and the energy companies decide to totally switch to renewable or nuclear energy for generating electricity?

There is no differences between James' gang and ordinary low-level criminals. Both are condemned by the general public. They think the government is not doing enough, but they are NOT the authority. They are NOT making the world a better place to live and they are NOT making the UK into an anarchist state. Their shameful activity must be stopped at once; and prosecute those who are responsible with the rule of law.

What do you think??

That's ridiculous. That poor chap's honda is hardly a tractor is it.

There's no excuse for vandelism. If you have a point to make; make it in a constructive way using a well informed argument with the appropriate evidence.

What this guy (and the amjority of the press) has done has lumped 4x4 owners into a 'I don't give a crap about the environment' category. That Honda probably gives off less C02 than the anonymous hatchback Mr Tyreslasher walked past down the road.

Just because someone owns a big car it doesn't mean they don't care. I bet there's plenty of people out there with small cars that don't bother recycling, or leave half the lights in their house on unnecessarily, run the heating instead of putting on a jumper etc etc but they don't get persecuted so outwardly for it.

And as Spider pointed out, he's done more damage by slashing the tyres than several school runs would acount for.....assuming you agree with the Al Gore that is.

Makes me mad. Grrr

Totally agree! I only spent £40 on heating during the winter months (dec-feb) earlier this year by switching on the radiator when the temperature went before 0...

I don't think having a large 4x4 is a status symbol either; but having cars such as S, CL, 911, Aston Martin or Maybach is.

hahahahaha, I think they might burn down all the rice fields because rice planting produce methane. 15% of the total greenhouse gases is produced by agricultural activities.... what's worse is that methane is 20 times more effective than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.

Re: Are you worried?

Might be an appropriate place to mention
(i) I DISPISE 4*4 drivers who hog the road and expect lesser vehicles to clear a path for them
(ii) Did anyone else pick up on the admission from the Dept of Transport, that they had turned down "green wave" schemes due to a Government calculation that took the loss in fuel duty generated into account.
This from the same f******* who financially punish drivers of larger cars "on account of the environment"
