Wow , i know these beasts are heavy & take some winding up , but........holy poo, i just aquired another G diesle, slow...(im sure the gears are oposite way around ! ) It drives as a 300 diesle G does on the flat etc, but show it a hill...... & it like taking a puppy for a walk on a lead !! NO WAY !! :?

Crawl aint the word, 4th to 3rd to 2nd to 1st & give it H377 ... the throttle is ok, maybe not full , as the linkage is worn in the main '0' bush.

Can i get it to rev better or get more ump on the hills, i dread to think what it would be like with a 2Ton trailer on.. ( I have a maverick that dont feel the same trailer fully loaded !! )

Re: hill crawling.

Clearly the engine in your G has either past its prime or it needs some serious servicing. The G is slow but there are very few motorway inclines that my older G could not tackle in 3rd and most were fine even in four. Momentum is vital, though.
