The oil light is flashing on & off, the oil level is sound, i just serviced the 'G' , & seems ok when warm.

Have i anything to worry about or is just a dirty termina; etc ?
Thanks

Re: oil light

Hi did you use the correct oil filter.and your engine revs should be around seven hundred at hot idle.....these old engines do not like synthetic oils..

Re: oil light

It is most probable the oil pressure switch is faulty, get an independant oil pressure reading by attaching an oil pressure gauge to it.

For engines' over 100,000 mls stick to mineral type oils (15w/40) not synthetics.

Re: oil light

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH IS, IF I TURN MY ENGINE OFF AND RESTART WITH A DELAY OF LESS THAN 2 OR 3 MINUITS THAN I HAVE NO RED WARNING LIGHT PRIOR TO START, AFTER 3 MINUTES EVERY THING IS HOW IT SHOULD BE, IE COMES ON AND THEN INSTANTLY GOES OUT ONCE THE ENGINE HAS STARTED. ANY IDEAS?

Hi Lynxman.. you appear to have "good engine" the oil pressure switch is at the base of the oil filter housing.single wire terminal..BUT!! I should not worry..if you have up to a three minute delay (when engine is hot) from turning the engine off until the light comes on again there is no loss of oil pressure in the system...caused primarily by worn conrod and crankshaft shell bearings.... or front and rear crankshaft/crankcase seals....just change the oil every 5000 miles and DO NOT use any synthetic products

Re: oil light

thanks for the response, currently i am running on semi synthetic and the light issue occurs whether the engine is hot or cold- what do you reckon.
Lynxman.
