Help and advice please. 230 GES 1988 manual

The bottom of the accelerator pedal has come away from the floor leaving traces of rust where it has parted company with whatever fitting there was to attatch it to the floor.

Any help on what part I need would be very much appreciated.

If it had happened 0.7 of a mile earlier than it did it would have failed its MOT !!

Re: Accelerator pedal

Hi,

I just did the same thing. A bit of grinding (to get the old one off) and a bit of welding to put the new one on.

Pedal tab

I hope that this helps.

Re: Accelerator pedal

Mine passed it's mot with just a piece of rubber hose covering the bar for the pedal! I'd been in conversation with the mechanic earlier about welding a metal plate on for the mot,he said it would need a non slip covering and not necessarily the plate.
If you decide to replace the pedal assembly too it is the same as the one in a W123 car and has an A123 part number, under a tenner IIRC.

Re: Accelerator pedal

the metal attachment fitting is welded to the floorpan ..if it has rusted off it may still be attached the pedal assembly with a plastic clip..to remedy correctly a new fitting needs to be fabricated and welded to the floorpan ---some people remove the clip and put a self tapper screw with a washer into the floorpan after passing it through the slot in the bottom of the pedal assembly......

Re: Accelerator pedal

With the MB part only costing a quid or two I would suggest that you save some yourself some time rather than fabricating a replacement. The Part no. (I think) is A4636160112 - don't get put off by the 463 number it is fine for 460 too.
