Gelandewagen Enthusiast's Survey
Hello GWOA Friends!
Over on the P3 Forum on which some from here are good enough to post, a short Survey was proposed to gather some information from Owners/Enthusiasts. Even though the survey will stay up indefinitely, the first place the data is intended for use is in Graz to present to MB. The countdown timer is as of this posting, so take the survey soon!
Here is the link:
If you have questions or concerns, post them or email me direct!
This explanation is per Inkblotz on P3 who's idea this was:
Hello all you G-Wagon enthusiasts owners present, past, and future. With the recurring threat/hint from Mercedes Benz every few years or so regarding discontinuing the G-Wagon. I thought the 30th anniversary of the G event would be a good time for us as a group to speak up and tell Mercedes that we are dedicated to the G and want to see it hang around for another 30 years. And since we will have representatives from the United States and beyond in Graz for the event, I felt that we could present MB with a little something that helps to profess our dedication.
What we are proposing is that we put together a list of all the G-wagon owners and enthusiasts past, present and future to let Mercedes know that the G has quite a following and take the opportunity to express our desire for them to provide additional versions of the G that we would like to see here in the US as well as requests from those in other countries. SWBs, Diesels, pickups, cabriolets, 461s, etc...
This list will not have addresses (other than the country of origin) only owners names, vehicles owned past, present and future, requests for specific versions of the G etc...
I will take this information and bind it into a nice format for one of our group to present to the higher ups at the Graz celebration.
Now whether Mercedes listens or not I am not sure but I think it would be worth the effort.
Thanks for getting this started Mark!
Welcome to the other side Drew - I filled it in and sent it to other G owners across the globe.
You'd be most welcome - the London G owners are a fairly active bunch, even if all they get up to is pizza and coffee
The capital must have one of the highest concentrations of G's in the UK.

haha certainly, just replace the pizza and coffee with sheesha and hommus, I'm sure one day we'll have a UAE G-get together...
I was going to ask, how many so far? But you pre-empted it..thanks!
Gotta love how Mac makes things simple...time I got a new one.
That's great, in theory 166 people who spent an average of say £30k for their cars adds up to about £5m revenue in Daimler's coffers...any accountant should take note.
Great photos of the trip, and even greater is the fact the vehicles are so "old", but run great.
haha I hope I can find a truck as clean as that when I start up my collection in Arabia. Now that I've seen the vid..seriously is air that expensive up there, not to air down in sand! I guess same comment as Harald on P3.
So air IS more expensive in the States! Over here at a lot of places it's free, but where you pay, it is something like 20 pence.
New Survey Update and we are on the verge of breaking 200 respondents ...
Great work there, the comments make very entertaining reading!
Keep up the good work

Having "scadded" through the comments
the comments from the USA want seem to favour
(i) Rugged
(ii) SWB
(iii) Diesel @ sensible horsepower
or at least that is MY preception
But yes surprisingly interesting
 With "gas" at your prices
wtf would one want a diesel
I answer my own question
Diesels are NOW better than petrol
Mileage, torque, reliability, ecology ... Just paid $2.70/Gal. for Premium ...
What is the RON rating of premium in Texas? I remember seeing 87 as the cheapest type in CA last summer...
Very cool looking!!!
Great work guys, I am optimistic of the effect of this great cross-continental work of cooperation.
Always good to be back in my (ancestral) homeland! And thank you for doing your part in the Gesearch! We are at 67 responses as of now and the the only Continent from which we have received no response is Antarctica! With 33 days until Graz, we hope for a fairly large data set! Regrettably, I have no plans to attend Graz, but Mark (Inkblotz) often on P3 is planning to try to present the data to whomever will listen! Back in the early '90s, my RRC days, I never thought there would be a vehicle more difficult to get, or desirable in the US then the Defender ... Now I would hate to see the G go the way of the RRC ... Prince Of Darkness aside, I do still love the memory of that truck. With the '08 280GE and the '02 G500(my first G) I don't believe I would ever go back ...
Again, thank you for the support in the effort and if you know of other places that might like the link to the survey or to embed the survey, just let me know here or by email. Lastly, as my brother lives in London(last 17 years) hopefully sooner then later I'll be able to join you all for an outing or two!
