Hello everyone... I have a 94 300GEL 463, and I'm looking to do a few things with it... currently, my car does have central locking but not keyless entry (so, on my car the lock is activated by inserting key manually into the door). I would like to:

1) Upgrade/install a keyless entry system. Has anyone any experience installing an original OEM MB system, or any good aftermarket systems? I have had poor experience with aftermarket in the past but it's certainly a brand by brand issue so I'm open.

2) I would like to replace the key system currently in use... as well as the immobiliser (so, my set up is an old style regular key, with an oooold TOAD immobilser). Has anyone been able to replace their system with a newer switch-blade style MB key, or even the newest infrared system? The kind that has no metal bits but just the squarish infrared interface that slots into the ignition?

3) If it's all possible, can such a new key system make it possible for me to get rid of my toad immobiliser and use a factory MB immob. system? IDEALLY, I would like to have a new, OEM MB key that also has the keyless entry built into the key (and not on a separate FOB).

Many thanks in advance...

Hova.

try asking braybrookes. They're just north of the M25 (Telwyn I think). I have had a newer immobiliser fitted (digital tag type) in order to make my insurance happy by them. the guy who runs it pretty much does MBs all day long. can't remember the number, but from memory i think the webpage is something like braybrookes.co.uk or the like.

Good luck/ph

I think GM (not general motor) locks are quite good. The remote locking/immobilizer has been on mine for 9 years and have no major problems...

The only minor problem is that the lights don't flash anymore when I lock/unlock the doors. They used to flash when I first got the car in September last year.
