That good 9%

most of the garages get a max of 15%
and they are buying weekly of them

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

I get 15% off for parts and 10% off for labour... But I only go there for repairing only when something serious goes wrong... otherwise I only go there for parts.

90% of £98 is still far too much!

Take that and run...mine refuse to do a discount on ordered parts from Germany, only on those in stock, and that's after MB UK intervened.

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

I see! I think they regonize me now because I literately rang them twice a day when one of the break cylinders was broken a few months back...

They said' we will have a look at it later today.' but the 'looking' process was delayed by about 4 days because one or two of the mechanics were not in for a few days... So they had a massive pile up of cars awaiting to be 'looked at' or repaired.

Yeah they do get the occasional hiccup in the system that sends everything off balance, like the parts that were "confirmed" but never arrived. Until the next day.

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

Well have managed to get VAT discounted on odd time when a big order like the wheel arch liners (twice  .. anyone wants to buy a non wheel arch set :( ). The storemen all know me .. in fact they all trooped out in the middle of a snow storm to see the G the first time it moved in 2 years as I had been buying all that time and they were convinced I was buying one in parts! So I will get discount sometimes but only on the bigger orders. TBH the cost of paperwork on a £20-30 order will not even be covered by their margins .. get real; have you worked out the cost of labour .. now when it comes to a £3-400 order they are making money and you may have some leverage if you were nice to them before

On a slightly different subject, I think Merc genuine spares are faily priced.
I had to buy two copper washers to seal the banjo bolt on a landcruiser oil feed from Toyota ,about the size of a penny piece, with a 12mm hole in £2 each. Outrageous, no offer of discount!
Also generally found Merc dealers more polite than others.

That's very true! They always offer hot drinks and biscuits when I go in there... not saying I am greedy enough to take all their biscuits, in fact I never take it, but I haven't experienced this in any other places.

Once I went into a MG garage with my friend... that guy was sooooooo impatient and ARGGGGGGGGH, annoying!!

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

My local MB dealer offered me 10% of their labour rate without me asking. But the unbelievable bit is that the rate is 55 Euros per hour !!! Which means they are charging me about £45 ph.

I'm very happy  :) :D

Do you know what is the rough labour rate in Germany?

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

I don't know the rates in Germany but one of the reasons that my local dealer is so cheap, is that they are a Mercedes truck service and repair centre that occasionally services cars. We don't get the full coffee and biscuit treatment but they are very helpful and friendly. Luckily they seem to know Gs pretty well.

It might be worth contacting a few Mercedes truck centres to see if they service Gs (at a cheaper rate).

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

I got a big fat 0% on recent order of over £400, apparently my usual gargage only get 5% though so wasn't expecting any. I will, however be expecting biscuits when I go and collect the items and will dunk as many as it takes to soak up the full cup of tea...now all I need is an emoticon with his cheeks puffed out!

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

Having befriended the parts manager, and written letters of praise about him to his bosses, I now get my parts at wholesale prices! It certainly pays off. He gave me their retail parts price CD - and I get 56 - 65% off the UAE retail price. Sorry.

This makes sense, if the clerk at the front desk of Gargash can give me 20%, what can his boss do?! Good on you..I think I need to open an account with YOU when I go back for good!

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

When I lived in the UK I had a 15% in all parts, stock and ordered, cheap and expensive. I just went there, asked for the parts manager and told him that I was the Southern Regional Rep for the GWOA and they said that they would happily give that discount to any GWOA member, as it was the percentage they discounted to members of the Club Mercedes UK.

The dealer was Puttocks in Guildford (later Tony Purslow). Just in case somebody wants to try it!

As a side note, my local GWagen specialist, Tomás Moreno, arguably the guy I have met who knows most about fixing Gs charges only € 36 per hour plus 16% VAT.... and you actually get the G back fixed!

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

Early on when I was responsible for getting advertising for the club I arranged 15% from peter Harris of Kettering for all club members , parts were posted to members.

Re: Merceds Dealers Discount?

Western Mercedes Coldstream - friendly and helpfull, discount to GWOA members, and happy to deal with even small orders.

The carriage charge is nearly allways less than the 12 litres of fuel to my nearest (uninterested) MB dealer.
