What would these be?

Mine currently has 255/75 R15's including 2 new Michelin Alpin (winter tyre?) on what I assume are standard alloys. I understand that these are an unusual size (and tyre apparently?) now so getting a matching pair in this country is proving problematic. Considering a full new set, in which case can I fit the more common 265/75?

Or how about going narrower? Might that improve the handling a bit? It's largely for road use (90%).

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere. I had a look through but got a bit confused with the metric/imperial comparisons and early/late alloy differences.

Tom

I believe 255/75/15 is the standard size for the optiomal (expensive) 15" alloy wheels.

I could do with a used one as a spare if you are going to change to the bigger tyres. Watchout for the change in gearing and your speedo readout,

Ah I see, another option :)

You're on 275/75/15's then I guess and presumably find them OK and can get hold of them?

I'll let you know if I change, was only going to go wider or narrower which shouldn't affect the gearing or speedo....should it? :?

Complex subject, wider can mean taller if the aspect ratio stays the same and narrower can mean shorter. Gearing then changes.

As said I think 255x75x15 is standard

Obviously make sure all tyres are the same size as I believe the diffs can be damaged if they are not (and you will fail a mot). Same make and pattern all round is also very wise.

Hopefully a wiser G owner than I can give you chapter and verse

I'll be getting a couple of new ones for the back so that at least I'll have 2 pairs. Too much money to spend elsewhere atm to justify 4 new ones. One of the one's coming off will be fine as a spare if you want it. It's either a Wrangler or a Michelin, can't remember which one is OK. PM me if interested. Tom
