Had my 720 Auto rebuilt and now the G starts with Gear selector in ANY gear. Of course it ought to only start in P and N. Before i climb under is there any one thing i should focus on. Seems odd that this only happened since the transmission was worked on.

Look at your inhibitor switch, which will have one gear selector going thorugh it. If the connention to this swicth has been disconneted, then the g/box boys have been industrious in so far as they have permanently wired a live feed to enable your vehicle to start in any gear. Or, for that matter, they could have done the same, connecting your inhibitor switch or esle they would have had to sort out a feed for reverse gear to illumeniate reverse lights.

This is possibly due to a faulty inhibitor swicth.

Definitely the inhibitor switch. The switch is moved by the gear selector. If it hasn't been reassembled correctly the switch is probably stuck in P and thus allows starting in any gear.
Easy check is to see whether the reverse lights come on at all when the gear selector is moved throughout its range

Yes spot on and thanks.Had no working reversing light either. It had snapped off at the plastic arm and lucky to have done so enabling the G to be driven. Of course the 722 is different . new switch on the way Will have to drive the picasso !!!!
