Re: immobilizer??

linked to remote locking breaks in the backdoor interface wiring can give you grief..... you will need an awareness of how the unit was installed and how it should perform its function.fob operation can be erratic..not an easy system to try and diagnose on the forum....

Re: immobilizer??

post your vehicle vin / chassis number here and from the factory build spec some details will emerge ..if this vehicle was built in Greece then it may have some magic gadget the military put on...most immobilizers break the electrical circuit to the starter of have a solenoid in the fuel line or a hidden switch..ask a policeman who has driven one..he may know the secret..I know of an African security force who wire the starter circuit through the cigarette lighter socket ..you had to push the lighter in to make the circuit.....not every "wouldbe" car thief carries a car cigarette lighter as part of his "Klefti" kit

Re: immobilizer??

it can be disconnected ..once you have traced the wiring and method of immobilizing...check for spurious wiring around the fuse box area.ask the previous owner/Mercedes original supplier was Greek main agent....could be something was installed by them prior to delivery or fitted in the police workshops....

I have a UK G 1987 with an immobilizer fitted the model number is 989 I get cut outs from time to time which a local mechanic seems to think it is the immobilizer I would simply like to remove or disarm it How should I go about it Cheers Gary

Re: immobilizer??

i do not think it is the immobilizer :? it would shut the engine down completely do you have adiesel or petrol?
check fuel pump first.

p.s. I'll ask my electrician what he has done to my car but no promise to get an answer out of him

he was behaving like he solved the mystery of life when he fixed it!!
