I cannot beleive how scarce some spares are getting in th UK,

I want brakes NO! want relay NO! shocker NO!

what are they playing at , I called one place they wanted £262-00 +vat 15% + £20 post for a set of rear shoes  , what do they smoke ?? :?

I have to spend my money abroad ,Germans win again !! Even with the £ to euro exchange.

They are happy to put a 1st class service with a 5-7 day received , & charge £200-00 less for shoes, shockers (gas) at half cost !!

phew ..... I feel better for that

Re: G spares

I think you used to be able to trade your old shoes in to Merc. Did you look into that?

Re: G spares

Howdy,
the brake shoe relining and drum machining is very inexpensive...after my 460 brake cylinders leaked onto the shoes, there was this greasy garbage everywhere and they were thin anyhow. i had them reshoed (bonded) and the drums machined to get rid of odd wear patterns. cost < 140AU dollars (what, 60 pound?) the car runs much better now...you can see in the latter pic 'forklift', the crackers obviously knew mercedes didnt make a 4wd so it must be a forklift!
couple of things in pic
1)greasy shoes!
2)remachined drum surface much nicer
3)whilst you're at it buy the repair kit (inexpensive at benz), which includes all the springs and bits to renew everything
4)final product, check the thickness of the shoes to what you probably have! forklift ha ha
