I am soo in love with that car! The Kommander G3a - I believe it is for sale - am saving my pennies, maybe in 100 years I may be able to afford a wheel! - Nice pictures, thanks for posting

What's the estimate for one of them then? Perhaps we should all chip in and use it for transporting the commitee around to official events!
I like the group of SL's later on in the pics by the way - great looking cars. Thanks for posting.
Last time I enquired it was 290K Euros - but me thinks it may have gone up since then.
(would want to change the 2.5 engine and get something like a 5.0 V8 in if I could! - oh and maybe get rid of the Eagles and Swastikas)

Lets hope your numbers don't come in then! Before we know it there'll be strip lights underneath and free-wheeling hubs! :(
I think I'll start a campaign for listed cars, like they do with buildings. I'd be a car conservation officer any day.....

Wasn't there a Range Rover Command Chariot that this and all other off-road vehicles were based on? I am sure there are pics of Wellington in one.... :?
Yeah sod it, I'm in. You'd get the money back hiring it out for Puff Diddly videos in a year or so anyway!

The eagles and swastikas might cost as much as my G!
There is also a Popemobile behind the 280SLC. Is it also for sale?

Is that not the one from the MB Museum? Bear can you ask your friend if he has any more photos of it?
Love that SLC. Does anyone know anyone who's into restoring them?
I already have one in need of much TLC. But you're right, decent one's don't seem to be that expensive. If there is anyone local to Somerset that you know of I'd be interested to see what they thought.
Much appreciated.
I've got 4 photos of first popemobile from MB musem if anyone wants (1980 230G).. from last summer. 2.8-2.7 Meg each so a little much for posting here.. give me PM if you want them. (and 7 off the 461 lwb td at the end..)
As it was at a german show I doubt it will have swastikas on it,it is a symbol that is totally verboeten in germany. There is a 1930's post van that is at the Essen Techno Classica show every year, it has been fully restored and has the spread eagle perched on a circle, but this has to be left blank by law.In the 30's the circle would have enclosed a swastika, I'm off to the Essen show in a couple of weeks I'll try to get some pics.
