Nearly a disaster

Going for the photo shoot tomorrow so took the car out today to get it cleaned. Anyway Battery Alternator warning comes up on the display in bright red. Pulled into a garage I use in Greenford for MOTs and small bits of work and as I did the car shuts down. OH Crap! its 2pm in the afternoon and the photoshoot is tomorrow!

Any a bit of diagnosis shows the alternator is not working. I need a replacement fitted in the next three hours. They told me its not possible. I tell them make it happen. Amazingly they did it. Got on the phone and sourced the alternator which was then dispatched on a motorbike. In the meantime they took the old alternator off and fitted the new one when it arrived a short while later. I had a look at the old one and they are huge! (Water cooled unit)

The owner lent me his car (my family were with me) so that we didnt have to hang around. I got back about three hours later and the G was done. Almost as if nothing happened! The guys were fantastic to do it at short notice, and did it at a great price. They look after a few Gs (my old one for about 6 years when I had it), plus another G owned by a lady since new for over 20 years!
