If g wagens were available in rhd again, how many of you would be serious buyers, be it a461 or 463 ?, because some of you seem to harp on about it, how many would seriously spend that kind of money !

What kind of money do you think they would charge?

Either 420CDI or the 5.5 petrol

Re: Tyre kickers!

that's a hard one as only a person with too much money buys new. The wise buyer waits; at 3 years depreciation has halved the original price. What this means I would guess that there are not many first time buyers out there at £50,000 plus and I would guess they would be from the Cheshire footballer belt or from Central London, cheapskate peasants like me would have to wait for wear and tear or a change in fashion to bring them down to a reasonable figure. Thats a very long winded way of saying no!

LHD doesnt bother me. If I could a afford a new G55 and afford to run it I would buy it today, be it LHD or RHD. I do wish they made it in RHD though so that we would see more on the road in the UK.

Re: Tyre kickers!

Hmmm
We got a second house to build and Senior management (=senior earner) has had to retire prematurely
and our HSBC shares are a wee bit Fu---- ( mildly put) so
£60,000 ish = bad
However in 3 years time
£30,000
Would probably buy two other cracking new ( pre reg ) cars
So we will stick wit the ones we got
Its the Scots Presbyterian in me
ah canny help it
But the best of luck to those who can
cheers
M
I do suppose there will be a very very long queue for the cast off Australian ones in due course
How long are they for keeping them?

If GBP goes below 10HKD, I will seriously concider it! The rate is £1 to $10.8 at the moment... not far now!!

Speaking of HSBC shares... they really are awful at the moment!! Not sure in the UK... but in HK the price has fallen from 150 to 33!!!!!!

RHD, I'm a starter. But it has to be a diesel engine - G320cdi as produced now or a 270/280cdi; perfection. But it's a definite no for anything bigger. I love the vehicle for what it is and does and in my 15 years with my 300GDL, I can't think of anything better than an up dated version. Really do wish all these hotrod types would stick to their Hummers and the like.

Re: Tyre kickers!

ofcourse the new buying price is heavy but consider this - our 300GDL was 40K 15 years ago and its still our favourite and cheapest-to-run everyday vehicle. Repairs in that time have been minimal and she probable still even has a resale value. So if there is no other car we would rather replace her with then isn't that good buying? isn't that good value? All we want for the next 15 years is the latest safety stuff, easier driving and all the conveiences of an up to date model.
We can find three people to commit to an order right now, and that's without trying and in tiny new zealand. I've always maintained that if we had some kind of lead from you guys in the biggest rhd market (toward the min 250 production run) then places like nz, australia, sth africa, singapore and japan would surprise you with their following. and for all those that can't extend to a new one then there will always be some failed orders or quick second hand sales to follow. I would have thought in this market the factory would be quick to respond to any new show of demand.

Re: Tyre kickers!

Didn't someone say after visiting the factory that an order of 250 would be sufficient for a production run? Was that in the magazine perhaps?
