A Squeak Relieve with the Hand Brake?
Hello all,
long time no speak (exam season is upon me!) but i come in need of an explanation for my little 190e
Its got a squeak from the back when im driving along, i thought it was to do with the diff at first but i came across a little fix in a moment of temper when i put the hand brake on while driving along, it stopped! well temporarily. but it something that keeps working, but im not as thick as i look and know its not a good habit to get into.
Do any of you know what could be causing the squeaking and is the hand brake applying the disc calipers or is it a separate drum in the 190?
please ask me more if im not making any sense., i have a feeling im not

Squeak could be due to build up of rust and dust and loose dust in the brake shoe drum. Best to strip down and inspect. This inspection and cleaning should be done at every 36,000 mile intervals.
If you had pulled up you handbrake, as you claim there may be a slim chance that the friction material on the parking shoe may have broken up and disintegrated. In which case, you will need this replaced.
Regards,
thought i would give an update in case anyone has a similar issue.
Turned out to be the hand brake being warn and old, causing a lovely constant squeak where it was rubbing. now fixed, did the rear discs and pads while it was all apart, parts from main dealer just over £100 pounds. now running like a dream again.
Thanks for the information Rakesh,
