Hi!!!

I have a problem and seems to a standard problem on our mercs lol

Basically the passanger window winder mech (both manual one left hand and the other right hand drive) will wind down but wont wind back up without a helping hand(pulling it up a the same time!) I looked at the inside a while back but looked to complex but now ive decided to give it ago!

We have another old g wagen that all (but the passanger front ) works on Can i take the mechs of that one and put it on the other 2? If yes how do i go about doing it?

many thanks
Joe

Yes.

Remove and refit ;-)

Tip is to tape the wind up by using masking tape etc over the top of the frame so the window stays out of the way.. then an easy job once door card is off..

I took mine apart and became too enthuasic about greasing.. now it walks down.. so enough but not too much. I also had rust issues with the rubber seal at the door outer lip putting pressure on the face of the glass so that this stopped the glass moving and made it hard on the mechanics.

hey

cheers i never replied to this but im about to do it!

Well In my case what it is theres a rubber tube with what looks like a thick wire with indents in (i guess the winder grips it) this has all corroded inside is there anyway to fix it or should i nick it off the other G wagen i have?

ANd it doesnt get stuck it sort of say gos half way down the the winder just spins when trying to get it back up lol!

Thanks alot
Joe

Re: window winder mech replacement!

Thanks Mick,

Are you still going to the 3 peaks?

If so I could get them off you there.

The handles are for betty blue as I won't have the white one going in time as the wiring job if far bigger than I had been led to believe unfortunately.
Or else I am missing something very obvious and simple. I had hoped for the 3 peaks to be its first Irish event under new management so to speak.

Regards,

Mike

PS Eventually got around to fitting the bull bar onto the '91 in time for the 4x4 charity challenge event. Looks well in my opinion, thanks.
