One of the South African Members just posted an email he received from Juergen Achilles on the US Forums.... Spider will be happy! Although no mention it is presumably a 461...

Hi Danie,

Thanks again for your interest.

Your absolutely right. Since we've got the orders from the Australien Army we are working hard to also make the civilian version of a RHD available asap.

We hope to be on track to offer the G 280 CDI RHD by mid time next year.

Please be so kind and stay in contact by fall this year to share latest informations.

With best regards,

This is one of those question I have always wanted to ask but keep forgetting.

How much was a brand new 461 when they were still avaliable?

You're probably looking at about €50,000 excluding VAT and other taxes...

I think back in 2000 they were selling for about £40,000 inclusive or there abouts for a base vehicle....

How come no one is chanting
" Gordon Brown, thieving clown"
in the streets
You know in line with the way they slagged Mrs Thatcher off for less reason

I expect its because he does not come across as nasty and evil (like Thatcher) or greedy (like Blair); incompetent he may be but this can not compare with the sheer vindictive malice of Marget Hilda Thatcher (her children are non too nice either).

Hmmm you make some interesting points - however the reason why people can't chant, is because know one knows where he is! Very camera shy is our Gordon. Possibly because he:

1. regrets Giving Tony the first bite of the cherry (after John Smith Passed away)
2. He is not an elected head of parliament
3. Best Chancellor ever? My bottom! Selling all our gold at one of the lowest points!
4. Taking the gold money and buying Euro and Yuan and Yen!
5. Supporting the change in legislation that penalises innocent people
6. Getting rid f the 10P tax - to the people who need it the most!

Down in the 'Bunker 10' he must have a doll of Tony and sticking pins in it! I mean if you had been handed a bowl of poo from your predecessor in America you could possibly get them 'hit'!

Ahh well - rant over, now MHT did have some issues, but she did also manage to extend and keep the UK in the G8 a few years longer by addressing the issues of the unions!

Spider1V - a slight Tory......But All British (except the car)!

Don't normally comment on matters political but really we are still suffering from the previous Conservative administration's greed culture and at least the Labour one has tried to re-establish social services and social responsability. In the end we all carry the responsability for the results of our actions so lets make sure they are good honest and in the interest of the wider society and who knows we may yet see a society that we can be proud to pass on to our children

I had nothing to do with the people who have got us into this nightmare. It is done to the pure undiluted greed of the financial community. What is going on now is just the prelude to unknow horrors.

Re: The RHD G is BACK... well almost!

Anyway, bringing the topic back on track before we end up having a locked thread and having two tribes going to war....

With the Australian purchase of the G and their wonderful way in which they have the steering wheel on the correct side, surely Gratz would do some UK spec non AMG's?? Morty any ideas

BTW Any Australian members, I do hope that you and family and friends are safe and sound - I know Australia is a big place, but my thoughts with you guys at the moment.

hard too disagree with any of that, sole economic policy consisting of the house price bubble, pfi etc, in most respects a Thatcherite Chancellor. The most apt comment now about him is that he's doing his best. Shame he's not up to it.

Do all ex-colonies have the same triffic rules as the UK? Or just some?

Thanks for all your thoughts and support, everyone. The fires were (and are still burning) in my home state, with the greatest devastation only one and a half hours drive north of where I live. The area burnt out had great bush and terrific 4wd tracks. The people and the bush and wildlife are pretty resilient, it will just take some time. We really need the rain. On Sat, with winds straight out of Hades, we had the highest temp ever recorded in the state of 47.8 degrees C (118 F) eclipsing the record 45 C set only on the 29th Jan. In contrast, we know what you guys are experiencing there now, too. IMHO the world is changing, irrespective of whether it is man-made or not.

Hmmm,
Not really relevant now that peace has broken out over here but once upon a time I was tempted by a LHD.
Being right handed a pistol is easier to manouver from the drivers seat when sitting on the LHS.

not sure on that, I thought we drive on the left to enable a gentleman to use his sword in defence of himself and his good lady.

More talk in the local paper (Herald Sun Fri 3rd July) motoring section. This time a Mercedes spokesman is quoted as saying that with interest from the UK & South Africa may help with a business case for (RHD production &) Aus deliveries.
