Does anyone have access to a used or NOS exhaust manifold for the M115 2.3-liter engine? My 1980 Mercedes 230G’s has huge cracks that spiders in multiple directions on the rearmost cylinder. I’ll try to get it welded locally, but I’m really thinking that a new(er) one is going to have to do the trick.

I also know that W123 sedans also use the same engine, so maybe someone has access to one of those? The manifold part number on my vehicle is 115 142 35xx (I can’t read the xx’s)

Finally, is it normal for coolant to pour out of the holes for the two outermost mounting studs? I haven’t had any coolant leaks/issues, but when I removed the manifold, two of the holes were gushing fluid. (hopefully they pass through a water area and its normal, and that I’m not also dealing with a cracked head or something).

Thank you!

Re: M115 exhaust manifold

Hi I can supply a serviceable manifold from stock (not new) and if you have removed the studs from the head because the nuts are siezed then yes! water will run out..you will need new studs if you cannot free the nuts on the old ones which you must do in order to be able to torque the manifold to the correct tightness against the new gasket..... fit the studs with no water in the head as you can "hydraulic" the thread chamber and strip the threads in the head....lots of bother after that happens......

Thank you fixwin38 for the offer and the excellent advice!

Yes, the nuts were so rusted on that even after a day of soaking with penetrating oil, the only thing that would budge was the entire stud--so out they came (along with the coolant). I'm so glad that it is normal for the studs to go through the water jackets. Phew.

So, yes, I am very interested in the serviceable manifold. I'll send you a private message and we can work out the details. Thank you again.
