I have just bought all the required components (pre owned) for converting my 280 to gas myself from ebay including torpedo tanks for the princely sum of 150 GBP (who says the pounds worthless) and am going to fit it myself then get it checked and certificated before commisioning it (bought some bits from an installer and he will check it and issue me with a certificate for 30 quid :D ). But i would appreciate some pics of existing conversions showing where the aforementioned items have been sited in the engine bay area in order to get a professional look and finish to the job.

If anybody is interested i can photo and post the job as i go along to help others.

And just to reassure everyone as to the safety of such an install, the items being fitted include a backfire device and all relevant cut-off solenoids (list given and part purchased from the LPG installer)

Regards Andy

Re: Wanted - Pics of LPG conversion

Hi Best of luck with your project..... we are installing a single point LPG system to the K and CIS Jetronic fuel injection as fitted on the G' 230e 280e and 300e....we have found that the best instal to protect against backfire is the "Leonardo" electronic management module which is linked to a Lambda sensor. it controls the gas input using egt and water temp sensing....the flap retrofitted to the air intake trunking in some installations cannot work as a backfire pressure release due to the air demand flap of the Jetronic assembly being located in the air intake of the induction head beneath the retrofit flap....( the large disk you see blanking the intake when you remove the trunking linking the intake to the air filter (230/280e only) it is counterbalanced to control the amount of air to fuel ratios as demanded by the throttle position. pics of what you have purchased will help us identify your system....

Hi Go to the "leonardo" website through your search engine..the kit comes with a lambda sensor...and you can download the manual for installation and setting up.....not perfect!! but the best there is when working with the Bosch Jetronic K and CIS fuel injection systems......

Please help to find leonardo's website by posting the link. Well, I couldn't do it myself. :(

I’ve often wondered if anyone has managed to fit a multipoint/VIS to a jetronic vehicle.
Don’t see why not and it should sort out the shortcomings of the relatively primitive single point systems. I got one to work on a digifant equipped vehicle. Whilst not CIS it’s still a pretty basic system.

You need the electronic signal from the fuel management system to provide the pulse for the LPG sequencial/multipoint installation which you do not have with the K and CIS Jetronic fuel injection.....could be done but not practical or cost effective in my opinion.....
