Start up problem
Im having a problem with my G270 CDi which I thought was gone, but apparently is not. When starting the car cold I turn the key and the car fires up. Within a second the car then stalls and stops. I then have to turn the key continuously for about 1min+ until the car finally starts up. This never used to happen, and only happens when cold.
Like I said, I thought I had sorted it. I changed the battery, revved the engine to clear out the system, and used injector cleaner (twice). But the problem is still there.
I have been able to bypass the problem slightly by revving the car as I start it. That normally works but this morning it didnt. Any advice as to what it could be?
BTW the car has only done 40K miles.
Thanks.

sounds like an air leak in the vacume system...
wait for the experts to give advice.
Sounds to me that if the engine management system, if fitted with a seperate coolant temperature switch, this could be sending a wrong signal to the ECU giving a wrong fuel mixture to start. Secondly, there is a problem with the glow plug light and, or the after glow period of warming.
The air mass sensor could be faulty..... the list could go on.
Get a fault code reading done by the dealer or a reputable independant garage and take from there.
Regards,
Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Unfortuanately, the cdi is so complex that advice that may be good for the older engines is of limited value with these engines. I doubt anyone could diagnose a problem reliably without connecting it to a computer now. It needn't be a mb dealer though, there are independant diesel guys around( can't suggest any though)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I called up MB Brooklands and booked the car in for saturday. Hopefully I'll know after a few days what it is.
