Hi All,

Past few days light smoke and smell of petrol is emanating from just where the glow plugs were recently replaced. Quite worrying... I am also hearing a sizzle/buzz from this element of the car in the pics below. It the silver box in the pic. Any thoughts pls?! :?

Thanks,

Ferdi

Re: Smoke from Engine!

The picture is the ABS pump, if this unit fails, it lights up the amber warning triangle on the instrument panel. The fact it is nosey is not normal, check out the electrical connectors, if necessary clean this out, could ditry connection or a fault building up to some sort of failure.

RE: smoke, if you have had petrol filled instead of diesel; a small quantity will keep your engine running but it would be smokey at the exhaust end, you could experience some detonation and a loss of power. If you have had filled extensively, then you would definately know, the engine would struggle and splutter.

If you have had the glow plugs renewed, it could be surface oils burning off or the glow plugs have not been fully tightened leaking by combustion gases if the smell continues. The petrol smell is puzzling.
