Re: Algeria

I think the FCO bought about 20 of them. Some are also G270CDIs. It is interesting, they are not factory armored.

From what I understand it is due to the fact that they act so last minute in purchasing that they can't wait the 6-12 months that it takes to get a factory armoured G.

Gs are just purchased from the shorwoom floor in whatever colour is available and then painted and armoured aftermarket.

well buying cheap landrovers keeps our guys in work, and doubt if we would want to pay more taxes to pay for our guys to drive around in armoured Gs. simple answer is dont invade countrys we dont need to!. our army is to defend anyone invading us isnt it. If we want world police then send in team amercia, you know the thunderbird type puppet world police.

I think the Algerians were one of the first Governments to buy the G wagen for it's police force - lovely green and white ones

The Army has also a few factory Guards G500s in Iraq. Of course they are used by high rank officers.

Factory armoured Gs have double rear doors due in part to the weight.

Re: Algeria

Improvised explosive devices (ied's) are even destroying Warrior armoured vehicles, an armoured g would be little better than a snatch Land-Rover. No one has conquered Afghanistan since Alexander the Great and I suspect the statistic will not change in the near future. Its a tragic mess.

Re: Algeria

Hmmm
the off route mine
improvised or otherwise, is a proper bugger
to defeat or survive
perhaps
surround each vehicle with a cordon of locals??
Hey
give them Segways chained together
that way they could keep up
with the vehicle they are protecting
