Steamy Little Number
hello fellas and fillies,
didnt really know where to post this so thought id put it in chat.
basically murray (my 190) steams up at every chance, its not bad in the summer but in the winter it ticks me right off! i have to keep the air con on to stop it happening or just sit there in silence as even the slightest conversation or sing along sends the visibility to zilch.
the problem is that im fed up of having the air con on, and its to cold to have the window open and i can hear the diff squeak if its open as well.
is there some little filter i need to clear out or some quick fix to stop it or do i just have to suck it up?
Tom
p.s the car itself isnt damp inside which was my first theory.
Hi I'm new to this forum. Sounds like what is happening in your 190 is that the fan is recirculating the air in the car continuously. Maybe your recirculation button/circuit needs to be fixed as it is locked 'on'. Try having a look there first. Would be interested if you could let us know the results.
Hello tclynes,
I get the impression you are refering to steaming inside the vehicle and not the outside radiator. If so, then it is your heater matrix that is leaking which will need replacement.
Your quick fix soloution is adding to the coolant system some RADIATOR SEALANT, I would prefer you use Wynn's Radiator Sealant. This sealant comes in a liquid form with minute particals of a fibre type body in it.
The fibres collect up in the area from where the leak occurs and solidify to seal the leak. Whilst the fibres are floating in fluid, they keep circulating in the coolant system. In doing so, this does not block up the radiator cores unlike some other types of radiator sealant, which are in a powder base.
This is only a tempoary fix! Ultimately, you will need to replace the heater matrix.
Regards,
I hope removing the dash on a 190 is easier than a G!
Sorry tclynes,
Perhaps, I should have mentioned that you are more likely to get Wynns Products from a Motor Factor's rather than public accessory places like Halfords.
Sort of National names to look out for are the likes of Browns Brothers, Partco, etc... There will be localised specialist in your area, people who supply to the trade, look them up in the yellow pages under Motor Factors.
If Wynn's product is difficult to find then you are o.k. to buy another brand but stick to the liquid additive rather than the powder.
Regards,

ill try that. ill turn the circulation on and see if there is a difference.
Thanks
Tom
