Colour code 7728 ? Literature wanted/7 seats wanted/Help
Hello again, once I can find out the colour of my 1989 W460, 250 GD 5 Speed, 3 Door SWB. Does anyone know where I can get a touch up stick of this colour paint code 7728 (Unknown code). Also I would like a handbook/service book/maintenance manual and any other literature on this model Lhd that came from Italy. Also want drivers Lhd arm rest black/grey tartan, and the dummy seats for the back that turn it into 7 seats Thanks Anna.
Your Mercedes Benz main dealer will be able to supply a touch up stick for the paint code ..just quote the Vin number and the paint code to them...same with the books. is the grey tartan small squares because I have one of those...the single seats for the loadspace require hardpoints to attach them to the side. pop the interior trim panels off from under the rear windows and look for some anchor nuts ( I can E mail you pics if you need them)
If You look on the Internet (Google.), search for " Mercedes paintcodes
728"
Just leave the first 7 out. It's probably beige/grey.

Any good car paintshop can make you a touch-up stick.

Also Harald has a useful colours page:

Hi from the pic is it the arm rest cover or the complete armrest that you need.....the large black and grey check in your G' is common to the 460 model from year 1985..but the armrests were an extra item as were Recaro seats.the saloon/estate cars have different armrests and coverings.
They do crop up on ebay occasionally, though not sure if the 460s are the same as the 463, they look similar.

Guido of course can source just about anything, but for a price as most of his equipment is original...

Interior is in super condition...Bet the rear windows rattle too!
Nice G! And rare to find in that state... not that many 250GDs were sold.
air conditioning and electric windows too.......
Hmm curious, are you handy with a wrench Anna?! Don't hear many ladies getting their hands dirty with such work...though your piece wouldn't look too bad in a museum...did you "fix" the windows to stop rattling or did they never rattle in the first place?
Great story...if I had the time and funds I'd probably do the same.
Here some info

I'll have to look for further info in THE BOOK
Ah small world, I come from the UAE.
Been to the Golden Sands before the rest of the world discovered it (in the 80's?)...was a lovely place!
The book says..if your VIN starts 460.317 then you have 1 of 95 units made in that series from 87-91.
If it's 460.337 then it's a bit more common, made till 1992, total of 1437 units.
Nah the guru here is the Spaniard Mortinson...I'm only just learning at Loughborough...but a pleasure to see new active members, I hope the journey goes well!
Just checking out Linford's town website..not very far!
Do you or anybody know what years the 250 GD was built from, mine is a W460 1989 model, plus where can i find how many made? as begining to find out thanks to this fantastic website that what i have is a bit rare in this condition plus not many made, i just thought she was just an ordinary 250 GD, Thanks Spanner Anna
Hello again Anna. Figures for all 250GDs made as follows:
Type W460
Convertible with fixed windshield 95
Van LWB 60
Chassis Cab 3.1m WB 374
Station Wagon SWB 1,437
Station Wagon LWB 436
Total W460 2,402
Type 461 (military)
Convertible with folding windshield SWB 9,488
Convertible with folding windshield LWB 478
Total W461 9,966
Type 463
Convertible with fixed windshield 14
Station Wagon SWB 227
Station Wagon LWB 31
Total W463 272
Your G is one of 1,437 Station Wagon SWBs made but a great deal of these were sold to the military too so not that many civilian 250GDs and very rare in a condition similar to yours.
Forgot to say that civilian W460s were made between 1987 and 1989 but military versions were made as late as 1992 and the 3,120 chassis cab version (used for military ambulances) was made as late as 1994.
Military W461 versions were made between 1987 and 1994.
And the W463 were made between 1989 (launched in 1990) and 1992, when it was replaced by the 350GD/G350 Turbodiesel.
Mortinson, thank you so much for your mind of information, it all helps to get to know my G even more and to continue with all my hard work on what has become the love of my life (sorry hubby love you to, well he earns the money and pays for what ever i want) sugar daddy, well he is sweet lol.
Ok Mortinson, pick your brains any idea approx how many would likely be still on the road 250 GD Civilian ones that is, just your guesstemate, one last thing if i was to sell her (which she is not for sale) any idea of the value, i know its difficult but just doing a costing on what i paid for her and spent on her as to what i could get for her. But she is not for sale as money is not the issue as we have 9 vehicles 5 Ltd Companies and own 55 houses worldwide, just would be interetsed so i can tell hubby and then he can buy me my next project, as dont want to hang up mu Oily overalls just yet lol take care Spanner Anna x
The value of any G, here or anywhere, is in the eye of the buyer.
Your 250GD is rare but not extraordinarily rare. It is in much better than average state, but the 250 feels somehow underpowered and it is not a very desirable model.
Having said this, it could be a jewel for a GWagen nutter with a load of cash to spend.
So there you go....
Now you see why HE is the guru lol, though the title goes by the number of posts, and I happen to talk a lot sometimes. A gallery with photos from Bulgaria should be interesting...post away
Hello to all that have replied many thanks as i now know the code 7728 to be Moevengrau Metallic thanks to all, this is the best 25 GBP i have ever spent, keep up the good work all of you, as for the arm rest will be incontact with photos, regards Anna
