A while back I asked how to repair a water pump from a 1988 230ge that was leaking from the weep hole. I was advised by one of our valued members/vendors that the issue was a bad seal. I purchased the seal and in changing it figured I would replace the bearings while I had the pump out. I have been informed by the vendor that no such bearing is available. It seems like I should do something with the bearings because they look rusted and have some play. Short of buying a new pump (at close to$500!) does anybody have an idea how to recondition the bearing in the water pump? Thanks for any help on my dilemma! :D

Hi Take the bearing as a pattern to a bearing stockist ..95% chance you will get replacements.... at just the cost of the bearing ......

I don't think it's worth to repair the pump. You can buy a German-quality aftermarket replacement for very little money. I bought mine from TE Taxi Teile (they supply to German taxi drivers) over Ebay: http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/te-taxiteile but they no longer list there.

You can however contact them by e-mail: info@te-texiteile.de or directly through their website: http://www.te-taxiteile.de/

I paid only € 34.95 + shipping + 19% German VAT but since you reside outside the EU you won´t pay 19% VAT on the price + shipping.

And the pump is made by this company: http://www.pex.de/ Very good quality.

Some pics of the job...

Northern continental Europeans (as opposed to those British Islanders ) are typically well educated with regard to speaking foreign languages so it is very common for them to read and write very decent English. If I were you I would simply e-mail them at the address above including the link to their website provided to show them exactly what you want and ask them if they would be prepared to ship to the US. They accept paypal and most common credit cards so there you go....
