You wait ages for one and then two come along at once!
Well 4 weeks after buying my lovely 460 from our friends at G-Class in Malvern Buckalec comes along and persuades me to buy his 463 with a new gas conversion see pics below:

I must say I'm delighted with it and if anyone is tempted by a gorgeous restored 460 its on its way back to Malvern this week.

The system is the latest one by "Romano Autogas" it was installed by Joe Devlin at Ardboe Autogas Installers ( 07968739949 ) and the original exhaust was removed and replaced to allow a tank under the chassis rather than lose boot space.
The actual system used is called Leonardo and has a max fill of 56litres if you mention Martin (Buckalec) as it was he who had it done I am sure he would look after you.

Re: Just like Buses.....

Hi Huss,

There is a second larger tank, cleverly located where the old middle exhaust box used to sit (Between the chassis ). This was awkward to fit but is well worth the effort as it is totally hidden.

Cheers

Re: Just like Buses.....

So this is a non catalyst car? What is the total usable gas capacity, I ask as I believe there is always 20% left in a tank that you cannot use. Thanks

Hi Paul Romano were with me this a.m. measuring up a 1991 463 LWB for two tanks.one in the well where the second exhaust box was fitted and the other parallel to the nearside step where the main exhaust box fitted..85ltr capacity with 65 useable giving approx 3 miles to the litre. single point injection. "Leonardo" management system EGT sensing. GBP 1900 + vat..... does not include the exhaust modification comprising two SS oval mufflers in tandem tailpipe forward of the offside rear wheel. GBP 295 but you get most of that back when you (weigh in) the "cat"......

Pretty impressive bit of engineering, getting the mid tank into place. as for snaps....over to Marc as the proud new owner. Only prob is, so well fitted/hidden - may be hard to photograph.

Re: Just like Buses.....

I had a quick look at David's G500 second fuel tank. It sits parallel to the propshaft. It is a complex business to get the filler to work and it hangs down low. It would probably be easier to install a LPG tank in that location than petrol. And certainly the filler would be easier to setup. What is the maximun capacity you could put there in LPG?

Re: Just like Buses.....

Supposedly the Orc tanks don't hang as low as David's do. But they are also 20 litres or so smaller.

As for a second filler this is from a VO setup but it gives you an idea of what is possible.
