I've found another damaged G-Wagen in Japan (it is very addictive! :-) ).
This one has been rolled.
Any advise if it is worth buying? obvious damage is to the roof and windscreen is missing + rainwater in the cab, but what worries me is front suspension damage - from teh picture it seems from tie rods are bent?
Thanks!

need a roof panel, tie rod is not a difficult repair can be bent back into shape or replaced seems that rh front wheel hit something causing that and what looks like cosmetic damage to the wheel arches and a flip. An easier repair prospect than the last vehicle for similar money. Check the roof panel cost and if you can get one without a sunroof it will be cheaper and less to go wrong.

I would also recommend that if it did 'flip' that you check the side pillars integrity, as there could be a slight bend in it (You would know this when you come to put a new windscreen in, as it would not fit ‘snug’ and you may get some water ingress) and its strange that the airbags did not deploy....

Air bags only deploy in a straight on frontal impact
I "understand" the reasoning is that in an oblique impact the airbag deploying could force the driver/passengers to one side or the other or even perhaps very exceptionally out through the window.
My wife stuffed a car through the hedge is how I know this, as her air bags did not deploy, at one stage she was skating down the road on the drivers side, watching the bitmac whizz by, so where would the air bag have put her??

It has an AMG VIN tag. Maybe an undercover G36 like the green LWB from P3

Can you really get the vehicle for around 400 000 Yen(about 2000 GBP) or is it only a mid-time bid?

It looks like it might have struck one of those powered steel poles that erect to stop cars passing into an area without paying. there is an impact mark on the bent track rod (now rusty) it could possibly have flipped butt over appetite hence the frontal damage and top of windscreen impact damage. shows how strongly stressed the roof is along the leading edge..the other damage may be secondary to the major impact....

The auction finished this morning. Winning bid was around 13000USD (7000 Pounds).
I shall keep looking....
