hello,

Ive been having trouble with my 190e (2.0l auto) its been running dirty and keeps stalling when decelerating. its been happening for about 3 weeks now and it was serviced 2 weeks ago with new plugs, cleaned throttle body oil change etc and ive put a new tank of fuel in it too.

Any ideas of what is causing the problem and how i can get it sorted?

thanks in advance,

Tom - wishing he had a g very badly

Re: Stalling automatic (sorry not g)

I had the same symtoms with my '91 300GE and have changed idle air hose no 8 because it was cracked thus causing air leak into intake manifold. Drawing: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=2&F=463228&A=463588&M=103987&GA=....

I did check the leak by closing air mass measuring unit by hand after air filter body was removed. With leaks engin continued to run. After hose change engine choked and stopped.

Other reason I have heard for the same problem can be throttle position sensor.

Have the fuel & air filters been changed? When you say the throttle body has been cleaned, do you mean the actual throttle body sitting below the k-jetronic fuel metering body or the flap, which is the air mass sensor for the jetronic body? It is the one below that needs cleaning.

Check your distributor and rotar arm. Have the Co2 emmissions checked and if posssible re-adjust. Should the engine be fitted with an air idle control valve, clean it with some brake cleaner, if you have no success then this might need replacing, these can become faulty, have it tested before hand.

The thread above is also a very vailed point, check it out.
