Today I attended the 8th Retro Agromachinery Show held at Valverde del Majano (Segovia). This is the first time I have been to it but from now on it will be a must in my agenda.

All the pictures are at the following link

What? No comments? Not even of the 22 pictures of some Steyr tractors, including this beautiful beast with a big nose?

Most amazingly entry was free

Well to be honest, most of these dos are free over here. Or like the one at nearby Hontanares, you pay € 5 p.p., which go to charity and for that you are invited to a big lunch including all the wine and bread that you can eat!

Perfect for Mark then

Jesus,
I refrained from making some smartass comment about finally converting you to tractor appreciation
But yes that old girl, the Steyr, is a beaut

Well you know I am a country man at heart... can identify much better with a Steyr tractor than with a Mercedes GL....

A nice collection, is that your son next to the T20? There was obviously a big tractor industry in Spain at one time, is it now dominated by Green and Yellow John Deeres like the rest of the world.

Yes Bill the boy who appears in some of those pics is my youngest, Roderick of Guildford is his name  (Rodrigo, born in Guildford's Royal Surrey Hospital on 22 Nov 2002.

As for the Spanish tractor industry of the sixties and seventies, it was sadly all based on licence manufacture:

-Massey Ferguson were made by EBRO
-Lanz had a joint-venture with some local investors. Lanz in Germany was later bought by John Deere and from then on JD tractors were produced in that factory in Spain too.
-International Harvester were made by SACA
-Hanomag were made by Barreiros
-Nuffield were made by SAVA

The President, Allgaller (Porsche design), Fordson, Kramer, Massey Harris, Deutz, Fahr, Güldner, Landini, Caterpillar, Allis-Chalmers, AVTO, Same, Berolini, MAN, Bolinder-Munktell, FIAT, Case, Zetor, Leyland, International Harvester, Steyr, Holder, Ursus, SFV, McCormick International, Renault-MWM, David Brown, Hürlimann, Minneapolis Moline, Volvo, Valmet, Ford and Mercedes Unimog were all imports.

As is the Crossley steam engine on Viterbi of Torino trailer of the picture attached.

Thanks for the info, what about the little grey fergi, was that not delivered direct from Coventry, and have you ever come across the rarest of all Grey Fergis the Vine tractor? I have seen one still working in France, Bergerac.
