HELP OIL COOLER LEAKING.
HI ALL, MY ENGINE OIL COOLER HAS DEVELOPED A SUBSTANTIAL LEAK AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AS IT'S ALUMINIUM IT CAN'T BE REPAIRED. DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE OR FALSE OR MAY BE RECOMMEND SOMEONE WHO COULD CARRY OUT THE REPAIR. I AM BASED NEAR PORTSMOUTH AND THE OIL COOLER IS OFF A 460 5 CYLINDER 3 LITRE DIESEL.
ALSO IF YOU KNOW OF ANY ONE WHO MIGHT HAVE ONE FOR SALE IN GOOD CONDITION THE INFORMATION WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. MANY THANKS LYNXMAN.
Hi Lynxman depends where the leak is....if the casing is damaged at the fitting attach points.(normally the result of unscrewing the "B" nut without holding the fitting ) thus wringing it out of the casing.... then a warrantied repair might be difficult to obtain...the core is easier to get repaired..same cooler on the 460 280ge.... I have a serviceable one but special packing and postage would cost more than from a source within GB
please read your PM

thanks for the reply, the casing and header tanks are fine, the leak is from a split in one of the vertical gallaries, out of interest how much do you want for it including p&p if you are willing to sell of course.
regards Lynxman.
