Re: Mobile Speedcameras

Not unless they have "please drive faster than the speed limit signs displayed"
Though as I understood it the enforcing officer had to be clearly visible

It's about time you guys get the same treatment we (the Dutch, that is) are getting every single day :-) Not because you're driving like maniacs (though driving on the wrong side of the road would qualify) or because this Gestapo-like approach helps reduce accidents. No, it's just because it makes us feel better. Try driving in Holland: every single lightpost, tree, dustbin or horse trailer is a potential hazard. I've opted for the only solution I know: get yourself a 300GD. By the time you reach unlawful speeds you'll get an award instead of a ticket :-)

Re: Mobile Speedcameras

Well its true that people should be grateful that they warn you about speed traps.

In Canada there is no warning and no clearly visible camera like in Europe. Radar detectors are also illegal. Thus they use radar-detector detectors and you can imagine what happens when you get caught.

But I seem to recall that often the speed cameras in NL would have the lenses painted black by some grateful Dutchman.... :)

Re: Mobile Speedcameras

Well don't know about Holland but I was in Belgium in June this year and I got my first speeding ticket in 20 years! Hooray! Looks like all my religious efforts to be in the right side of the law did not pay back because I was caught doing 105 Km/h on a motorway which was apparently signed as limited to 90.

In any event, I concur with DutchG... had I been driving my trusty old 300GD they would have never caught me at such cosmic speeds, but I was driving a rented Volvo V50 instead!

Nice to see that you still 'off road' when you park though! :P :P

Wow - they have upped the game since when I was spending time there.

You have to hand it to them - the dust bin is brilliant - though I guess you don't have college kids with baseball bats playing "dustbin baseball."
