Wise ones,
I have been looking for a quality stainless exhaust system for my G500 but I have not been able to find it - demand is so low that makers I have tried do not have patterns...
OE is very good but expensive, too complicated and a bit restrictive.

Any ideas?

This link is to a recent post about an exhaust on a 300G. You could try something like that on either one or both sides. The standard 500 all comes out the RHS so I suppose that it is easier to keep it like that. Spider just bit the bullet and bought the MB system.

The exhaust is made by Sebring. I contacted them about buying one direct without success. You may have more luck with the head office in Austria.

Do you need to replace the whole system? Kat's, Muffler, pipes etc, etc? THe main benifit I found was the warrenty that you get with the MB parts and labour. 1 year V's 6-9 months with the 3rd parties I tried.

I have a 463 LWB

What does the whole system cost?

From MB Brooklands - including discounts £2,405.05. it was a total system inculding new beackets/bolts/screwa/ Kats/ 3 mufflers and pipes.

Spider1V - wondering which child to sell to fund his G needs...

Contemplating selling all three of them.
I salivate contemplating the peace and quiet.

The MB system is very complicated. The last RHS muffler is vulnerable to mechanical damage. I also found bolts and some fittings wasted to the point that they cannot be removed even after grinding and drilling.

Manifolds are fine. I suppose I could also keep the down pipes. Then again, if the new system is stainless, tube diameters, thicknesses and material composition will not be uniform.

It appears there are not many SWB G500's around therefore it does not seem easy to find expert makers with experience in this model. I could have a system designed and rigged locally BUT...I would prefer a tried and tested stainless (304) exhaust I could bolt on - with known results.

Thank you for the input.

Out of interest. Do you have to have a Catalist in Greece? Also remember if you buy genuine it will fit straight on. I presume much quieter than stainless.

We have catalysts. Same rules as elsewhere in Europe (but with some "unofficial" lattitude unlike you lot). Mind you, in my humble opinion, catalysts are a bit of joke: not when they are new but a couple of years down the line. In fact they can be harmful. And difficult to properly recycle. Research in better combustion technology would have been a superior long term investment. Look at what the Japanese are doing in Japan.
