I know this is going to be disturbing to all you 'boiling turbo diesel' folks but my 230 GE barely gets out of the white now that I have fitted a new radiator (even with a winch in the way). Having had 230 saloons and G wagens for 20 years I am used to them never really getting to half way on the gauge no matter how hard I push but i wonder how low is too low?

Re: temperature

Hi Chris check your thermostat...and thermostat housing..corrosion can stop the stat from seating properly allowing the water to bypass the stat.also check the stat closed / open temp functions with boiling /cooling water...this is the only temp control in the system.....

Re: temperature

Hi Peter we use a product called "water wetter" on some airport equipment that sits at idle for long periods...reduces temp by up to 7%...think it is a REDLINE OILS Product......

Re: temperature

ditto on my 463 petrol - was running increasingly hot and a radiator re-core (£225 + VAT) reduced the operating temperature right down. I think it's a routine requirement after say 100,000 miles / 10 years and the radiator blocks up whatever you do to try and keep it clean.
