HOT Kats
'Hot Kats'
Getting home in the evenings’ is usually, just in time, for news for me.
Listening to last night news, I was amazed to learn of cases of catalytic converters (Kats) being stolen from super market car parks, off cars in less than 20 minutes.
Bulk of the Midlands reports’, increasing incidents of such thefts.
The thefts are down to higher scrap metal prices and it is the platinum in the Kats that is precious. Ordinarily, exhaust dealers can claim back around £15 per scrap Kat. And here are some unscrupulous members who are willing to steal items that newly, are worth some Hundreds of Pounds, for scrap value.
What makes 4 X 4’s more attractive to steal from, is the higher ground clearance and easily accessible Kats that only need cutting at either end and they have made a quick buck.
G-Wagen owners need to be vigilant about this and consider securing their Kats by perhaps incorporating a protective shield across the Kat and enclose it in a way that it becomes inaccessible to steal easily, but maintaining some way to allow cooling of the system and not totally enclose it.
Night, night, don't let the bed bugs bite.

yes had one stolen from one of our transits, left it in a busy road at 9am was stolen by 3 pm the same day , they used a battery recip saw to cut it off. What with the new lez zone lorrys that have to be fitted with a£2500 silencer to conform to this stupid bloody law will have these cut off to. Ford are aware of this problem on the transit and have made a bracket to prevent them be g stolen ! . The platinum inside is being melted down and sent to china so they can make more stuff
