That's something, at least.

I just found out though, that my dad's G400 currently has a £300 VED rate since, apparently, for cars imported after August 2006, the rate and banding (M) is based on the import date, and not the first registration date, which would otherwise have been July 2001. Wonder how many others here are could on this?

I still hope that the retrospective VED to 2001 for other cars won't go through.

Yes it is unfortunate that it is on the import date. I got hit by that too. :(

The £300 is what's written on the existing 12-month tax-disc, due to expire shortly. Probably will be £400 to renew.
