I went for my MOT this morning and, having replaced a few things that had done 178,000 miles (brake hoses, lines, rear brake cylinder, wheel bearing) it passed.
Also in were a TD5 defender, 42,000miles needing new in tank fuel pump.
Disco TD6 30,000miles needing new steering box.

They don't make 'em like they used to

Re: Longevity

Hi Chris makes you feel proud of G' engineering....if the new VED rules keep at 2001 onwards the 460 and the 463 G' should come back into its own......might affect the price though.......

Re: Longevity

Now what was that Army "catch-all" phrase
used when charging a driver for abusing a vehicle
"Neglect, misuse and damage"
I thought it was pretty watertight.
Any comments Piggy?

Re: Longevity

Well the Engine is sounding a bit rattly now as well and smokey and at 55000 mile you can't expect them to last forever..

I've had as PP says new gearbox, transfer box, 4 sets of heater plugs, new EGR valves, new turbo's, voltage distribution board, window regulators, door lock set, starter motor, alternator, battery.

All these parts were needed just because I actually use it off road and for towing.

I guess they're made for taking the kids to school nowadays and not for using..

Should have bought a Nissan..LOL
