Does any one have electrical adjustable fronts seats? (463 Petrol)

The passenger front seat, has totally died on me. I had to change a fuse the other day, and I moved the front passenger seat to its full back position. After changing the fuse, I tried to move it back, but absolutely nothing! Have checked the wires, all look to be in place, have checked the fuses, again all seems normal. Even tried the local Stealership, but for all the use they were, nothing that can fix it. (There response well the motor has gone, that will be £210 per hour labor and parts……….. we can do it three weeks next Tuesday…… inspect the seat, then order the part then re book it – Those who know me, you can imagine the look I gave them )

Any advice?

Re: Power Front Seats

i've got them but they work.

is it just the one seat? if it was something with the fuse/wiring system it would affect more than the one.

is it possible that maybe the seat was moved too far back? i "think" there is a cut off position so you don't burn the motor out when moving the seat to the limits. maybe try having someone gently push the seat forward while you operate the switch to move it forward and see if it kicks in?

it could be the motor and if so i would of thought you could get one out of a breakers.

just theorising here....

sorry not much help.

Yeah - have tried that, maybe I have been a bit to genteel! But the who;e seat is 'dead' no wuring sounds indicating there is any power.

And the strange thing is that it is only the front passenger seat, driver's works fine.

Meh - will keep fiddling, but thanks anyway

Re: Power Front Seats

maybe it pulled a cable loose by pushing it all the way to the back?

according to ballooner they offer a 1 year warranty and as you have had it less than a year they should sort it for you.

Re: Power Front Seats

Same problem with my 2004 G500.
Are all seat adjustments dead?
Each seat has its own ECU under the seat: that is why one works and the other does not.
Assuming both fuses controling the seat are ok and all plugs to the computer under the seat are fine, listen if there is a light clicking sound coming from the control unit under the seat when you press the seat adjustment controls. If there is then in all probability the control unit relays have packed. Bad quality. E-series had the same control units. To my mind it is a bit unlikely that the motors have died on you because they are of reasonable quality...

Spider's G is a 2000 G500 - it doesn't have the memory functions or command like yours does.

Anakreon,

Many thanks. Both fuses are OK and all plugs are in and tight. No slight clicking sound, in fact, no sound at all! Hmmm E series, I supose thats what happens when you raid the bins at Mercedes :), However Max is correct, I don't have the memory seats and one assumes that as mmy G was a 2001 (registered) that even if it had an E series ECU it would have been the older, more reliable E series?

well it looks like a trip down to James at G Wagen! (mind you off in a few mins to a G meet, maybe someone there may have an idea) but thanks anyway, much apreciated!

Not at all - how were you to know what year he has? And it may still help someone searching the thread in the future.
