And another one!

I am planning to upgrade the hifi and also wanted to get bluetooth hooked up so I can use the multi function steering wheel?

Does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations for the best/most cost effective solution?

Thanks again,

Unfortunately you are very limited to only what was offered with the G inregards to upgrading the head unit itself as you will loose a lot of the functions attached to the multifunction steeringwheel otherwise.

Essentially an Audio 10, Audio 10CD, Audio 30, Audio 30CD. You can hack in different CD changers though but if you are going to do that you might as well as get an interface for an Ipod via the Denison Gateway 500.

You can add bluetooth but it is fairly costly if you don't already have phone controls. I had been looking at it myself and you are at about £750 if you want it to tie into your steering wheel and I think you are limited in only a certain number of phone numbers being dialable via the controls.

The other thing which I never did figure out is you may actually need a specific head unit as well.... I know Mark has a different one to me with a number pad on it but then he also has sat nav built in.

Or you can look at a Becker system (I think thats what Mercedes use as own brand) I got a nice Becker syste, IPod, Blue Tooth and Sat Nav for my old ML, £540 inc installation.

Cannot remember the model number, will rummage around the loaft when I am back in the UK for you, however try this link;

http://www.soundgallery-incar.co.uk/index1.htm

I have a PS2 in the back of my 500, but the workmanship is very poor, I have taken it down to them to have a look and they have qouted me to do the following;

Bigger head screens in the back, wirleess headphone, rewire and tidy up the PS2, new DVD player, i-pod and blue tooth via the stereo, re do the ariels and re conncet the TV tuner, hardwire into the stero - current link is frequency on the radio. Will take about three days and cost circa £1.4K-£1.5K. Why I like them is their workmanship is excellent, infact on my ML they had stopped a rattling that even Merceds could not identify! Two other shops wanted in excess of £3.5K

Good hunting!

The Audio 10/30s are Becker systems which are modified for Mercedes to work with the command system and multifunction wheel.

Not just any Becker will work if you intend to keep steering wheel controls.
