Heh, just be happy you dont live in Denmark.
The average price for the cheaper(and usually rusty/unhealthy) mid 80's Gs here is around 7000 euro, prices vary alot, often reaching 10-20k euros or more for the same G's.
Recently a re-seller put two old army G's for sale, these are wrecks, missing a shitload of parts, rusty as hell, torn seats and interior, basicly it looks like they where stolen off a scrap-yard - The price? 5000 euro each.
Oh and dont even get me started on newer G's(90's and onwards) - the cheapest of those go for 20-30k euros and the prices just go upwards from there.
Denmark does have some steep import taxes on cars, and the G's are mostly for people who wants nothing but a G, but still the prices here suck badly.
But you are in the EU, can't you just go to Germany and buy a second hand one?

Yes, but on import they have to pay very steep registration taxes (nothing to do with the EU VAT). Then the landed price is balanced with the domestic prices.
Same as in Ireland, Spain and other EU countries.
