Only Hot Air
Hi fellows,
as the summer is close I found that even I turn the heating off on the center panel warm air is coming. I check the valve that is in the engine compartment and is connected plus is in full close position. Any idea?
Cheers Angelos
the valve has been known to fail internally.limescale deposits prevent it from sealing inside.....select the closed position and remove the hose to the heater (the one that goes through the bulkhead...it may only leak when the system is pressurized) so you may have to run the engine until hot...if leaking remove assembly and soak in vinegar for 2 hours. replace and the chances are it will work properly....
Angelos, I replaced the valve to my old 1984 300GD and it was just a few pounds and 5 minutes work... definitely worth the investment!
Sometimes it's the wire from the lever to the valve that gets stuck. In such a case, if you move the temperature lever, the wire bends and does not move to close/open the valve. Some WD40 is needed to fix it ... if this is the cause ...
Dear Jesus,
do you have the part number of the valve to check the price to the local stealers?

Angelos, I will need the complete VIN of your G for that!
I believe this is the part: http://www.mbparts.ru/?type=A&partno=0008320084+&op=Search
It's number 270 in the graphic:

But before ordering it, get your stealer to confirm it!
Good luck!
Dear Fixwin,
I removed the valve and I found (I have shown through the hole ) that there is inside an O-ring out of place. I tried to open the valve but in vain, I failed. I put it in vinegar but the problem is obviously the moved O-ring. Do you know how (or it is possible ) to open the valve?
