Well despite having a letter from the dealer in Salzburg clearly stating that the vehicle was supplied new for the UK - so headlights, fog light and speedo all as they should be - and a similar letter from MB homologation in the UK.....................I went to the DVLA and spent an hour or so going through all the forms and then.....

I have still been told to send off and pay £70 for a certificate under the mutual recognition scheme. This is apparently because the Certificate of Conformity says (in german) right hand traffic and metric.

so I've sent that off today....... I'll let you know how it goes

Better news is that I've taken some test shots today which I hope will be small enough in size for the system not to blow up when I try and post them. I wonder whether the limit on file sizes needs to be so small - even my phone produces pics that are usually too big, maybe it is time to increase the limit - and see more detail!

Cheers Mike

Thats frustrating,, still it becomes laaghable when you hear people have registered their vehicles with no problem simply because the clerk doesn't understand the CoC. With a UK specced car, you should have been ok.

Picture size is limited, but still allows for fairly large pics, just saves people scrolling to see the whole picture.

I was not asked for the certificate when registering mine, it was used though.
