I have a G500 (463) and have noticed that the rear wiper is now failing to return to the correct place it now stops either mid way or half way through a cycle. This happens on the screen wash mode and the intermittent mode, so now to get it to park I have to time it on the speed setting and try and stop it when it gets to the top! Does this mean a new motor or is something out of sync?

You advice please ladies and gentlemen

Re: Rear Wiper Problem

Well presuming this is standard auto electrics.. it is the "park" track that is dirty or has lost power. There are 3 wires in ... earth, wiper feed from switch and then park feed.

Earth .. is well earth

wiper feed ... when fed with power from the switch causes wiper to wipe .. this will be via a timing relay if you need delay/intermittent.

park feed ... this permanently live feed gives the motor juice via a copper track .. and the track has a break in it where you want it to park .. so as soon as it gets to the break in the track (and the wiper feed is not powering it) .. it parks.

So first check with voltmeter/bulb for the 3 types of feed (well you have earth and wiper feed it seems as it works off the switch) .. so only need to find the permanently live "park feed" .. and find it's fused supply? .. or if all 3 wires are going then it is open heart surgery on the motor.. sometimes the track get worn/brushes die .. but more likely just a lack of feed from the wiring (ie fuse).
